Creativity in life

I read a really good book the other day on creativity (Ignore Everybody and 39 other keys to creativity)

I really enjoyed this book. One line, right at the start of the book, stood out to me

The more original your idea is, the less good advice other people will be able to give you

When I have an idea I test it out on everyone I can to get input. This can be to do with the design of something or an approach I am going to take. In fact, it can be anything because I love input and other people’s perspective on things.

However, the core idea comes from me and because of that I can choose to listen to, or ignore, whatever advice I’m given. Sometimes I do things despite other people’s advice because I recognise that they don’t have the same picture as I do. Sometimes I know best.

And it can be tough because when you ask people for their opinions, they may be offended when you don’t listen. They may also interpret it as you not really wanting to hear what they think. For me, this is not true. I have loads of ideas and sometimes I know I am on to a winner but I just need to tweak it. Sometimes from a tiny concept I can have one conversation that turns it into a really solid idea that I can action.

I get my energy and inspiration from others. The ideas come from me but they take shape by talking through them.

Does this ring true for you?

Sometimes we get so caught up with life and work we forget to think about how we really get motivated and inspired. We find ourselves doing a job that makes us miserable but we can't quite work out why.

I can help you sit down and re-evaluate what is important to you in your life. I can do this face-to-face or even online in a short 30 minute session.

So why not drop me and email to dawn@thinkitchangeit.com to see how I can help
